Normandy welcomes you to enjoy its rich and diverse ocean scenery!
The Côte Fleurie, from the Seine to the Orne, boasts 40 kilometres of coastline alternating between sandy beaches, cliffs, and rocks, as well as charming seaside resorts such as Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur and Cabourg. Villerville, located on the Côte Fleurie, is endowed with a lovely sand beach, stretching for 4 km along the cliffs to Trouville-Hennequeville. A fine beach for taking in the fresh ocean air...
Also be sure to visit the Côte d'Albâtre which runs from Tréport to Havre. Its name is a reference to the white color of the steep chalky cliffs that make up the majority of the coastline. The Normandy landings are located on the Côte de Nacre and the Côte de Bessin. The Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha and Utah beaches stretch from Ouistreham to Sainte Marie du Mont. Historical sites: military cemeteries, museums, Pointe du Hoc, symbol of the courage of American soldiers. The Cotentin, located between the Vire estuary and the Bay of Mont Saint Michel. Enjoy the lovely beaches, hiking trails, dunes, untamed creeks and cliffs of the Cotentin Peninsula. The Cliffs of Jobourg, at a height of 128 meters, are the tallest in all of Europe. The Côte Ouest, shielded from the wind, benefits from the warm currents of the Gulf Stream. Its 100 km of sandy beaches, occasionally broken up by rocks, leads to Mont Saint Michel, where the tides are the highest in all of Europe.

GASTRONOMY

Calvados (14) is one of the premier gastronomic regions of France. The cuisine is based on 4 main ingredients: apples, milk, meat, and seafood. A region famous for its cider-making, cider and calvados are also features in Norman cooking. Don't forget the trou normand, a shot of calvados poured over sorbet served in between courses to stimulate the appetite. The pommeau, an apéritif with a calvados and cider base, is being exported more and more. The quality of milk from Norman cows is renowned, and is used in local dairy products and cheeses. Normandy is the leading region in France for the production of oysters, mussels, and scallops. Culinary specialties include chicken from the vallée d'Auge, tripes à la mode from Caen, andouille sausage from Vire, La Teurgoule (traditional cinnamon-flavored rice pudding), sables (butter cookies) from Asnelles, apple tart, Isigny caramels, and madeleines from Jeanette.
